NB in Beijing 2022

Fredericton, February 4th, 2022 – Team Canada, will once again be sending a large contingent to the Games despite the present challenging circumstances. Sport NB congratulates all athletes and mission staff for the resilience and determination needed to earn an Olympic spot. Sport NB would like to send a special acknowledgement to our fellow New Brunswickers who have been selected as part of Team Canada: Courtney Sarault (Short Track – Speed Skating), Dr. Ryan Hamilton (Mental Performance Consultant – Men’s Hockey), Serge LeBlanc (Equipment Manager – Women’s Hockey), Nicole LeBlanc-Richard (Judge – Figure Skating), Cynthia Benson (Judge – Figure Skating) and Betty Dermer-Norris (Staff – COC); and send an additional salute to Brendan Corey (Short Track – Speed Skating – Australia) and Stephen Gough (Coach – Speed Skating – USA) as they also compete in Beijing. New Brunswick is proud of your participation, and we wish all of you great success.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games are the defining moments of an athlete’s career. Years of discipline, dedication and sacrifice culminating into a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete in the most prestigious and greatly viewed sporting event in the world. This year, the Beijing Winter Games will continue the tradition of Olympic and Paralympic excellence by hosting athletes from 90 different National Olympic committees, as they compete for eternal and international glory. The 2022 Winter Olympic Games officially opened earlier today and close on February 20th; with the Winter Paralympics beginning March 4th and closing on March 13th.
